Tallebudgera Creek

Other Gold Coast:

Good fishing, good times

What’s in a name – ‘good fishing’ it seems. Tallebudgera is the Aboriginal dialect from Botany Bay’s name for ‘good fish’. Word travelled fast up the coastline.

For years children have stayed at the region’s national fitness camp. The renovated Tallebudgera Recreation Camp still offers programs for students with a gym, tennis and squash.

Go surfing in patrolled fishing areas or take the kayak to Tallebudgera Creek. There’s sheltered swimming and great picnic spots. The Tallebudgera Valley ends in the foothills of the McPherson Ranges, an historic timber and dairy farming area which includes retreats. www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/parks
