Forces of nature have taken thousands of years to carve a spectacular landscape of cliffs, gorges and waterfalls around the Springbrook Plateau just behind central Gold Coast. Covering around 3000ha, the protected Springbrook National Park embraces landscapes of spirited waterfalls, meandering creeks, walls of rainforest and rare scenery.
The Yugambeh people lived in the valley for 6000 years, and today Aboriginal names remain as are a reminder that this is still a special place for indigenous people.
Bush walking, camping, picnicking, swimming and bird watching are some of the uplifting activities Springbrook National Park offers the traveller, no wonder it is one of the States most popular National Parks.
Some must see aspects of Springbrook include:
- The giant Purling Brook Falls
- The famous Natural Bridge with a dramatic waterfall and cave pool
- 100 bird species including rare and threatened species
- Nocturnal tours to see delicate glow-worms
- The aptly named Best of All Lookouts, set among the clouds with views across the New South Wales border.
