Ormeau and nearby Pimpama lie in the northern areas of the Gold Coast, directly off the Pacific Motorway.
Ormeau’s name was derived from Ormeau House, the estate of Mayor AJ Boyd in the 1860s.
This town is a base for eco-tours into the northern rainforest areas. A major driving centre offers a purpose-built performance track plus a gallery museum.
When driving past nearby Pimpama look at the landmark off the highway of the uniting church and World War I soldier statue – erected by local families to commemorate the dead.
Other attractions include a major golf course and horseriding.
Head back on the Pacific Motorway and turn off at Maudsland where Parklands residential playground is Australia’s largest playground within a residential area for kids.
