Nerang

Other Gold Coast:

Meeting place

Nerang has been a place of meeting for 100 years. The township had a postal office, school and … you guessed it – hotel – from its establishment in 1876. Once a rail head for farmers and timber workers, Nerang is still a transport and administration hub with a major rail link and Council offices.

Gradually Nerang’s key role was usurped by Southport towards the beach. By the 1970s and 1980s, Nerang became a popular hinterland residential area.

Now, golf courses are within easy access. Stay at hotels, motels or use convention facilities.

Gold Coast Cycle Centre has velodrome and offroad circuit. There’s skating and fishing at Burchill Park adjoining the Nerang River.

Nerang River is a popular location for fishing, boating and picnics. A great fishing platform is located at Arthur Earle Park. You may come away with bream, flathead, whiting and trevally.  www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/parks
